In 1960, Mr. "A" choreographed his own full length version of the Nutcracker and presented it during the Christmas holiday season.
Mr. "A"'s original production was the fifth to arrive in the ballet world here in the United States.
Since then, there are over 250 smaller versions presented by regional companies throughout the country. The productions often vary in dance interpretation and story content. Many of them have gotten waylaid in direction from the original intention - a classical ballet with a Christmas motif.
Unlike other versions that have relegated themselves to gimmickry, Albano's Nutcracker remains theatrically effective without changing the sense of its medium -
classical ballet.
Mr. "A"'s production is based on his original structure and utilizes the best elements of dance.
His flair for the theatrical is obvious from the outset and his Russian ballet background is inherent in the choreographic frames.
He was the first to create the full length "Nutcracker" ballet in Connecticut which has become a model for other resident companies and recital schools.
"This "Nutcracker" is one to see again and again."
